FCC-MTL welcomes interns from the SHIFT Centre of Social Transformation. SHIFT offers a variety of internship opportunities for  students from Concordia University in Montreal seeking valuable experience working towards social transformation.

FCC Current Interns

Hamda Elmi

Hamda is a 4th-year Film Studies student at Concordia University. Her journey in film studies is intricately woven with her belief in the transformative power of storytelling as a medium for healing and unity. She has been with the Family Care Collective for over a year, collaborating and supporting various projects. She serves as a Clinic Host & Intern for Community Healing Days, where her goal is to create a safe space for communal well-being.

Dylan Kinsman

Dylan is a dedicated advocate for social change, and community engagement. Originally from  Kjipuktuk (Halifax), they are a transplant currently pursuing a Specialization in Psychology and a Minor in Diversity and the Contemporary World at Concordia University in  Tiohtià:ke (Montreal). Dylan focuses on how everyday actions and inclusivity can provide support for other at risk 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. As the Social Media Liaison for Family Care Collective, they create dynamic content for community outreach intended for a diversity of people. With hands-on experience in community outreach, ecological sustainability, and the fine arts Dylan strives to create meaningful, positive impacts in the lives of those they hold space with.  

FCC Intern Alumni

Charlotte Dwyer

Charlotte Dwyer (she/her) interned with FCC from January to August 2024. During her time, she supported initiatives such as Hope Garden and Community Healing Days, concentrating on community outreach, event planning, research, and data analysis. Charlotte departs FCC with a renewed understanding of the importance of community and collective care in producing resilient health models. She hopes to continue her work in community-based feminist health programming, with the dream of eventually pursuing midwifery. 

Elena Tresierra-Farbridge

Elena is an intern with the Family Care Collective who grew up in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka. She is a student at Concordia in the final year of her undergraduate degree in Sociology with a minor in Sustainability. Growing up in the downtown core of a big city, she is familiar with the systems of oppression that produce vulnerability, and as a result, she has always been drawn to community work. In her studies, career goals and work with the Family Care Collective, Elena focuses on bolstering community resilience, especially through food, by reimagining a more socially and ecologically just way of relating to land.

Lindsay Doyle

Lindsay worked with Family Care Collective as a part of the Shift Centre for Social Transformation during her time studying at Concordia University. Working with different stakeholder groups as part of the internship taught valuable skills of organization and communication. In addition, the experience showed the real life impacts of community action and advocacy. Lindsay is currently living in Montreal, working for urban beekeeping company Alveole.
